After a week full of excellent and solid performances, our Champion Marcos Baghdatis, ended up on the runner's-up spot, at this year's Malaysian Open of Kuala Lumpur ATP event.
Our Champion, a wild card entry at the event, ousted three of the Malaysian Open's top six seeds and by beating Victor Troicki in the semis with a score 6-3, 6-1, faced Janko Tipsarevic in the finals of the event.
It was our Champion's first final since 11 months ago at the Kremlin Cup. Baghdatis who came very solid on court, leading in the score with 3-0, did not manage to handle the continuous pressure by the Serb, who won the final by 6-4, 7-5. The 27 year old Serb has captured his first ATP Tour title, after reaching 5 times the finals of an ATP event. Tipsarevic was the only top-20 player without a title.
