Following one and a half weeks of great success for Cyprus tennis in Australia, our Champion Marcos Baghdatis had an unfortunate exit from the first Grand Slam of the year after a tendon injury, facing Lleytton Hewitt, in the round of 32.
Hewitt was leading 6-0, 4-2 in the match with our Champion being unable to play, troubled with pains from the beginning of the match. Our Champion will be given an MRI examination tomorrow, hoping that this will only be a minor injury that will give him the opportunity to continue his great performances in the next tournament to follow.
