Our Champion Marcos Baghdatis in a fairly easy three set match, in front of a fully packed with people National Tennis Centre, secured victory for our team, winning Portugal's No. 1 tennis player, Frederico Gil, 6-2, 7-5, 6-2.
Our Champion although being down in the second set 5-3, gave no chances to the Portuguese player and broke his serve twice to win the set by 7-5. At the end of the match the whole team entered the court and our National Anthem was heard in the stadium.
