Our Champion Marcos Baghdatis, playing some of his best tennis this year, did not finally manage to reach the finals of the Paris Masters this week, losing a tough match to Rafael Nadal of Spain, 6-4, 4-6, 3-6, in the semis. Marcos played fantastic tennis during the whole match, but unfortunately, this was not adequate enough to earn him a place in the finals against Nalbadian. Our Champion came also very close to gaining the 8th position at the Shangai's Masters this year, but despite this, he has proved that he is currently in top form, looking forward for an excellent start-up next year, and definately a top performance in the Beijing Olympics.
Marcos had a tough draw in this Masters event, starting in the first round against Juan Carlos Ferrero (6-4, 6-2), Ljubicic (6-4, 7-6), Davydenko (6-2, 6-2) and Robredo in the quarters (6-4, 6-4).
