Marcos outstanding performance prevailed once more during the Davis Cup event in Cyprus, when Cyprus faced Finland, in a very close 2-3 tie. Marcos singles wins over the Fins, Paukku and Jarkko Nieminen were very important and his intensive team spirit throughout the weekend, was something outstanding.
"It was one of my best matches for this year.." said Marcos. Our Champion, came out all fired-up for the opening singles match on Easter Sunday against Jarkko Nieminen of Finland, winning 6-2, 6-4, 6-3, bringing the tie to 2-2. Although, he suffered a thumb injury at the beginning of the second set, our Champion showed us once more his true champion spirit, coming back with a clear set victory over the Fin.
During the press conference, Marcos noted that the crowd helped him a lot and boosted his confidence all over the match. And of course......Marcos was the crowd orchestrator with chearing up Photos Kallias during his decisive for the tie match.
