The 2009 Draw of the Davis Cup took place yesterday, 23rd of September, at the BNP Paribas´s offices in Madrid.
In the Euro/Africa Zone Group II event, Cyprus was drawn to face Portugal, with the choice of ground, between 6 & 8 March 2009. The event will take place at the Cyprus National Tennis Centre, with both of our champions, Baghdatis and Kallias, starting up for our team. Cyprus was drawn to face the same team, in the 2008 second round tie, and lost 5-0 in Porto-Portugal, with our Champion Marcos Baghdatis being absent from the team. The winning team will face the winner of the tie between Ireland and Algeria.
